About Us

Our Story

606 Academy is more than a basketball program—it’s a story of perseverance, purpose, and community. Founded by Coach Greg, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, the academy was born from his journey to find meaning after his honorable service. While pursuing his degree to become a teacher, Coach Greg discovered a life-changing opportunity at 3 Point Athletics. Despite challenges, his persistence led to a role that opened the door to a world of basketball he never imagined.

Over the years, Coach Greg built meaningful relationships with professional athletes like Jarryd Loyd and Ismaila Kane, who inspired him to dream bigger. His journey wasn’t without setbacks—being pushed out of gym spaces by competitors and balancing coaching with driving for Uber. Yet, he remained committed to bringing high-quality sports programs to his community.

606 Academy found its wings after a turning point when parents requested a camp for local players out of Antioch Highschools feeder program for girls. With limited resources and staff, Coach Greg turned to a former professional basketball player Ismaila Kane, and Jewell Loyd, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and WNBA champion. Both eagerly stepped in to help, marking a transformative moment for the academy. In gratitude and recognition of the journey, Coach Greg presented Jewell with a special flag passed down by his mother. This flag, discovered in a retirement community attic where his mother worked, symbolized hope, resilience, and the academy’s mission to inspire growth.

With the support of partners like Matthew Fields and Jaronn Watkins, 606 Academy evolved into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching young athletes the value of hard work, service, and their potential to grow both on and off the court.

Today, 606 Academy thrives as a community-driven organization, offering camps, clinics, and enrichment programs that inspire young players to reach new heights. Every step of our journey is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves a chance to succeed.
